Email problems with windows 7 and outlook

I have just got a new pc with the brand new windows 7 on. For the life of me i cannot figure out how to access my hotmail emails. I am at the moment having to go through the hotmail sign in page online to access anything. I don't know what i need to do, i open outlook and try to enter the email settings it wants but it keeps throwing them back out at me. I asked a friend to come and help but they did not know what to do either, i think hotmail should have brought out some sort of guide to help people with this. It is no real problem getting my mail from the web but i just wanted the convenience of being able to open outlook and have my mail there in one place. I think i am going to take the machine into a computer shop in town and see if they can do it for me. If they can't then i guess im stuck with using the webmail service.
